Voice - Treaty - Truth Advocacy Course Tuesday, 25 August • 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Sunday, 30 August • 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM This course will introduce you to the history of the First Nations peoples’ struggle; the Uluru Statement of the Heart; techniques to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders; the skills required to build your confidence to handle objections; and messaging and mapping in a targeted campaign. The course is run online via two 3 hour sessions over two days and presented by Thomas Mayor, a union leader and Torres Strait Islander man born on Larrakia country in Darwin. Sunday August 30th 3:00pm to 4:30pm The HMT Dunera set sail from Liverpool on 10 July 1940, crammed with some 2,000 mostly Jewish refugees, aged from 16 to 66. This year is the 80th anniversary of the Dunera's arrival and the Dunera Association (Friends of the Dunera Boys) will be holding a major virtual event together with Emanuel Synagogue, honouring the Dunera Boys and highlighting the amazing achievements of one of the boys, Leonhard Adam, judge, anthropologist and artist.
The event will feature Dunera Association president, Ron Reichwald, a virtual tour of the Tatura Museum, and Leonhard Adam's daughter, Mary-Clare Adam in Israel revealing the fascinating stories behind some of her father’s art.

Are you are aged 18-19, finishing high school and interested in spending time in Israel before university, with fellow NOAM/MASORTI youth from around the world? Each year, Marom runs a NOAM UK gap year in Israel for 6 months. The Drachim program provides Masorti youth from Noam Youth Movement in the UK and around the world, a rich and meaningful experience in Israel that include the values of our movement - Masorti Judaism, Zionism, Gmilut Hadasim, Kehilla & Hagshama Atzmit. Participants will be volunteering, learning, traveling & practicing Hadracha skills while getting a better understanding of Israeli society, politics & culture.
Save the date! UPJ Virtual Biennial:2020 Vision on Sunday 9 November 2020
The in-person UPJ Biennial planned for 5-8 November 2020 has been postponed to 14-17 October 2021, and we are pleased to announce that our special guest speaker Rabbi Sharon Brous of Ikar in Los Angeles will be with us at that time. This year, on Sunday 8 November 2020, a Virtual Biennial will be offered, with an online introduction from Rabbi Brous. During July, Biennial chair Susan Kadar spent 10 days conducting interviews with UPJ congregations throughout the region to determine a program that will best suit the needs of our constituents for the Virtual Biennial.
