TISHA B'AV AT EMANUEL SYNAGOGUE

Join us this Tisha B'av for Finding Healing Through History: Jewish Resilience in the Face of Modern Challenges.  Following the reading of Megillat Eicha (the Book of Lamentations) at Tisha B'Av evening services, we invite you to join us as Rabbi Jacqueline Ninio OAM and our special guest Amanda Gordon AM discuss the impact of trauma on our community and how in the past, Jews have found meaning in the tragedies that have befallen us, and how we now can use those same methods to interpret our reactions to October 7 and the subsequent rise in antisemitism, as well as to find a positive path forward.

Amanda Gordon AM Hon FAPS is a clinical psychologist and director of Armchair Psychology Practice in Edgecliff.  She is well-known through her work with the media, demystifying Psychology and connecting with people in a way that can assist them in making sense of the world. Amanda is a former President of the Australian Psychological Society, her peak professional body of over 27,000 members. She has been involved with the Jewish community and Indigenous and multicultural relations for decades and was recently awarded an AM for her work.
